Foreball

The Foreball project encompasses research attempting to predict outcomes in football. Forecasting has become a significant practice in the sports industry. A scout is endeavouring to predict which youngsters will go on to have a successful career. Betting companies offer odds for tournament winners, final scores, number of yellow cards in a game, and top goalscorers. My personal interest is in the pre-match stage of the performance analysis workflow, where analysts attempt to predict how their opponent will play and come up with tactical suggestions to counter it.

Foreball is comprised of two types of work. The pre-match reports approach up coming games with forecasting in mind. The Forecasting Principles section includes algorithms and theories that can be drawn upon to improve the efficiency and accuracy of forecasting at the pre-match stage.
