The Miracle

20th March 2022

In 2005, Liverpool went into the Champions League final as underdogs and spent the first half being bullied by a star studded AC Milan side, captained by Maldini and featuring Kaka and Shevchenko at the peak of their powers. During half time, something shifted and the dejected Liverpool fans that had travelled to Istanbul were abaut to witness a miracle. Liverpool took only quarter of an hour to claw their way back from a 3 goal deficit. After battling through extra time, goalkeeper Jerzey Dudek kept his cool and ensured that Liverpool were crowned the Champions of Europe. The graphs here illustrate the differences in performance in the first and second halves of the greatest UCL final ever (probably).
